I make each hand forged barbecue fork from 3/8" mild steel stock, shaping it with forge, hammer, vise, and anvil. I season each fork much like a cast iron pan, by spreading on a layer of canola oil and then applying heat right up to the smoke point for a durable, food grade finish that resists rust. Mild steel combines toughness with strength and heat resistance, making for a superior hand forged BBQ tool.
Blacksmith made barbecue tools like these will last a lifetime, and are great as a birthday gift, anniversary gift, Father's Day gift, Christmas gift, or when rounding out the grilling tools any backyard chef needs.
Each grilling fork is unique and hand made, ranging in length from 18 to 22 inches and featuring twists for grip and decoration, and a hook for hanging up. If you need a particular length in that range, please let me know with an order comment and I will ensure it reaches you as requested.
MAINTENANCE: while the seasoned finish is durable and will stand up to normal cooking use well, carbon steel will rust, so re-seasoning with oil is recommended yearly, or as needed based on heavy wear and tear (banging against other metal tools, for example). Just spread on a layer of canola oil and bake in an oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for at least half an hour. Good as new!
