Hand Forged Blacksmith Knife | Viking knife, Celtic Knife, Krumkniv, Handmade knife, Hand forged knife, Blacksmith made knife

This listing is for a drop point point knife like the one shown in the photo. They are handmade, so some small variation will occur between knives. ! The blade is 2.75" long, and the twisted handle is 4.5".

Knives like this go by many names: blacksmith knife, Viking knife, Celtic knife, Krumkniv and others. Since there's no wood used in its construction, a simple coat of oil makes it weatherproof, shockproof and tolerant of hard use.

I hand forge each blacksmith knife myself from a segment of 5/8" diameter coil spring, normalize the steel for the best grain structure possible, harden with a canola oil quench, then torch temper for excellent toughness. This particular knife has a canola oil finish for a bit of rust protection. Food safe! I've left the blackened forge finish on the spine and bevel of the knife, both for looks and for a small amount of extra anti-rust character.

I ship each knife in a plastic edge protector, but it's *not* a wearable sheath. Hit up one of the leatherworking vendors here on Etsy for something for your belt!

Coil spring makes for a good, durable knife. It's not stainless, but it will hold a decent edge for most shop or camp-utility purposes. Keep it oiled, sharpen it if abuse dulls it, and it will serve you for a lifetime.
